MCCI Attending ISSCC 2018
Key members our team are attending the Solid-State Circuits Conference in San Francisco next week, which is the foremost global forum for presentation of advances in solid-state circuits and systems-on-a-chip. They are anticipating a great few days as the conference gives the team a unique opportunity to build on their technical expertise and also to have many opportunities to meet and network with leading experts. We offer our member companies a trusted network in which to collaborate and learn and to discuss new ideas.Our research agenda is always focused on application based research to drive industry, so attendance at ISSCC each year is vital to enhance our knowledge and skills for the benefit of our industry partners.
There will be an impressive range of plenary talks which will tackle some of the research areas we focus on, they include;
• Vince Roche, Analog Devices – “Semiconductor Innovation:Is the Party Over or Just Getting Started”
• Barbara De Salvo CEA-Let – “Brain-Inspired Technologies: Towards Chips that Think”
• Yukihiro Kato, Denso, -“Future Mobility Society Enabled by Semiconductor Technology.”
• David Patterson, Google,- “50 Years of Computer, Architecture: From Mainframe CPUs to Neural-Network TPUs”
We have no doubt that they will capture a lot of new ideas and concepts at these talks, applicable to many of the 55 live research projects across the centre. Fundamental to our success is to always be ahead of the curve in IC Design and we are looking forward to an impressive selection of tutorials which each of team will attend.
Our team will be participating in some of the following to learn from the best in the field, topics of interest will be low-Jitter PLLs for wireless transceivers, logic, and artificial intelligence, basics of quantum computing, error-Correcting Codes in 5G/NVM Applications, hybrid design of analog-to-digital converters, single-photon detection in CMOS, basics of adaptive and resilient circuits, fundamentals of switched-mode power converter design, digital RF transmitters. They will also take part in the forums which will explore the following topics – Intelligent Energy-Efficient Systems at the edge of IoT, FINFETs & FDSOI – A Mixed-Signal Circuit Designer’s Perspective and Circuits and Architectures for Wireless Sensing, Radar and Imaging Circuit and System Techniques for mm-wave Multi-Antenna Systems Advanced Optical Communication:From Devices, Circuits and Architectures, to Algorithms Advances in Energy Efficient Analog Design.
MCCI & IDA Networking Event
It won’t be all work, however, as we are delighted that we are hosting a networking event on one of the evenings in 83 Proof Bar – [Elim St & Mission St] – 83 1st St, San Francisco, in association with IDA Ireland. This is always a popular event where Irish and non-Irish based employees of international semiconductor companies to get together and learn more about the innovation and international collaboration happening in Ireland.
